Our Milestones

As a young entrepreneur, Jim Boyer started Baltimore Fire Protection & Equipment with a $1,000 loan from his grandmother, use of her basement, and a used truck.

Incorporated in the State of Maryland as Baltimore Fire Protection & Equipment Co., Inc. After moving business in 1971 to York Road in Cockeysville, MD, Hurricane Agnes flooded building and fleet of 2 trucks. A $10,000 SBA loan allowed business to resume under a new roof on Greenspring Drive in Timonium, MD.

Jim and Pam Jenkins married after meeting in 1970 when Jim started the business.

Jim and Pam welcomed their daughter, Shelley.

Opened first branch office in Rocky Mount, NC.

Opened branch office in Chesapeake, VA with purchase of Fire Equipment Engineering

Opened branch office in Wilmington, NC with purchase of Carolina Fire Control.

Acquired Columbia Fire.

Acquired Kidde Sales & Service.

Changed name to BFPE International.

Built Corporate Headquarters on Connelley Drive in Hanover, MD.

Acquired Safety First Fire Protection.

1st Jim Boyer Golf Classic benefitting the Department of Fire Protection Engineering, University of Maryland.

Acquired Thorn Automated Systems.

Acquired Atlantic Fire Systems with locations in Raleigh, NC, Wilmington, NC, Fayetteville, NC, Laurinburg, NC, and Myrtle Beach, SC.

Opened branch office in Clayton, NC.

Acquired Moul Enterprises in Abbottstown, PA..

Wilmington branch expands and moves to current location.

Acquired Spahr Fire Protection.

Opened branch office in York, PA.
