Stainless Steel Upright and Pendent Sprinklers are UL Listed and FM Approved with
temperature ratings through 500 °F. Viking also offers Teflon® or polyester coated
sprinklers in upright, pendent, conventional, horizontal sidewall, and vertical sidewall
styles. In addition, Viking's wax-coated sprinklers are available for use in severe
corrosive environments.

available including: standard response models in both standard and large orifice versions
and quick response standard orifice sprinklers. The standard orifice dry sprinklers are
available in pendent, upright, and horizontal orientations in both standard response and
quick response, while the vertical sidewall models are available as standard response. The
large orifice version is presently available in a pendent orientation only.
These versatile sprinklers are available in adjustable
recessed, standard adjustable, and plain barrel styles, in several finishes with matching
escutcheons to blend into any decor. Whichever option you choose, you'll get the added
durability of a fusion bonded epoxy coating and the looks and proven dependability of
glass bulb technology. For a precise fit, Viking dry sprinklers are UL Listed and FM
Approved in lengths up to 48 inches. |
|
Upright models are available in UL Listed and FM Approved lengths to 48 inches with
minimum starting pressures of just 7 psi. Viking dry sprinklers have design and

The First Extended Coverage Concealed Sprinkler
The breakthrough technology of the Mirage® has convinced Underwriter's Laboratories to
award Extended Coverage and Extended Coverage Quick Response listings to the Mirage®
Concealed Sprinkler. The Mirage® is the first concealed sprinkler designed to meet the
strict testing criteria for such usage.
This feature can allow a sprinkler contractor to
significantly reduce the number of sprinklers, along with the associated pipe, fittings,
hangers, and labor. These savings result in lower installed cost. Extended Coverage
listings also enable the sprinkler contractor to meet center-of-tile requirements without
sacrificing area of coverage.
|
|
Extra-large orifice sprinklers from Viking offer not only
the advantages you've come to value in ELO designs, but new refinements as well. They
combine the simplicity of design that architects and engineers want with the flexibility
contractors need.
These sprinklers, available in either standard response or
quick response, offer the rare combination of an unusually small size and low profile, and
the largest K-Factor in their class. That means for the first time, there's no conflict
between the demands of design and the benefits of increased flow.
The resulting pressure savings means you can provide
necessary coverage and densities even with a weak water supply. Increased flow at the same
end-head pressure opens the door to even greater flexibility: You can increase densities
and therefore hazard classifications, often without reworking piping. Or, simply make
maximum use of the allowable spacing at any given density. Ultimately, this flexibility
translates to cost savings, reduced pipe sizing, and the possibility of downsizing or even
eliminating a fire pump.
 |
Viking's ELO Standard Response Upright VK530 (Model M)
Sprinkler and ELO Quick Response Sprinkler VK531 (Model M) have also been specifically
tested and approved for use in high piled storage occupancies (Standard Response Sprinkler
VK530 by UL, cUL and FM; Quick Response Sprinkler VK531 by UL). They offer the lowest
profile (2 3/4") of any competing sprinklers and exemplify the traditional attention
to detail that you've come to expect from Viking. Due to efficiency of design and the
utilization of all high-quality alloys and metallic parts (except for the rugged, time
proven glass bulb), you can count on Viking products to perform over decades.
Underwriter's Laboratories have also granted Extended
Coverage listings to Viking ELO Sprinklers for spacings up to 20 feet by 20 feet, for both
light hazard and ordinary hazard applications. Viking's Standard Response Extended
Coverage Ordinary Hazard ELO Upright Sprinkler VK532 is FM Approved for spacings up to 16
feet by 16 feet.
These versatile sprinklers also offer minimum spacing
requirements that are as low as eight feet between sprinklers; among the best available
for any extra large orifice, extended coverage, ordinary hazard sprinkler on the market.
This versatility makes planning and installation simple.
When an application calls for extended coverage, there's no
longer any reason to worry about spacing or about the high pressure requirements of 1/2
inch and large orifice sprinklers. When a marginal water supply might require the addition
of a pump, the Viking ELO end-head pressure may allow elimination of the pump from the
installation.
Viking ELO sprinklers simplify installation by
eliminating the need to mix and match sprinkler models to meet varying requirements. Even
escutcheon selection is easy. It utilizes the familiar Model E-1 Recessed Escutcheon for
all applications, while providing the flexibility of a full 5/8-inch of adjustment.
Installation is easier and more cost effective due to the reduced number of different
sprinkler and escutcheon parts needed.

Viking's Horizon Flush Style Sprinklers provide limitless
possibilities for system designers and installers. Combining rugged dependability with
dynamic styling, they won't easily be damaged during installation. Designed for use with
concealed piping, the units are mounted flush with the ceiling or wall, with the fusible
link exposed. The two-piece design allows the installation and testing of the sprinklers
prior to the installation of the ceiling or wall.
Horizon pendent sprinklers are available in standard
response, quick response, and residential models. Design options include chrome, bright
brass, white, navajo, or black with a matching adjustable escutcheon ring threaded in
standard 2-11/16" OD, optional 3-1/4" OD, push-on in standard 2-11/16" OD,
or optional 3" OD. The separate decorative ceiling rings allow for up to 5/16"
of vertical adjustment.
Viking's Horizon VK420 (Model H-3) Small
Orifice Residential Pendent Sprinkler has a 3.8 U.S. K-Factor and is listed at square
spacings with single-side dimensions of 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 feet. The flows at which it
is listed are among the lowest in the industry as evidenced by the single/multiple
sprinkler flows of 13/11 gallons per minute at 16 x 16 feet spacing. It is also the only
flush sprinkler that has been specifically tested and listed for use on sloped ceilings.
It can be installed on sloped ceilings with pitches up to 6 inches in 12 inches at
spacings up to 16 x 16 feet, when single/multiple flows of 16/12 gallons per minute are
provided. This sprinkler is the only residential sprinkler approved by Factory Mutual.

painted sprinkler body and a polished chrome, bright brass, white
painted, or navajo painted escutcheon ring. The 3" OD
escutcheon ring is a "push-on", "pull-off" style
that allows up to 1/2" of horizontal adjustment. The VK403
(Model H-4) Sprinkler is UL and C-UL Listed and accepted for use by
New York City Department of Buildings for standard areas of coverage
per NFPA 13 (225 sq. ft.).

| Microfast®
Sprinklers
|
|
The Microfast® line includes residential, quick-response,
commercial, and extended coverage models. Microfast® sprinklers come in a variety of
thread and orifice sizes and are available in chrome, natural or bright brass, black,
white, or navajo with color-matched flat or special adjustable escutcheons. By employing
special coatings, black (polyester or Teflon®) and white (polyester), Microfast®

resistance as well. Microfast® sprinklers employ a slender bulb element (135°F, 155°F,
175°F, 200°F, and 286°F - residential is 155°F and 175°F only) that is much smaller
than other sprinkler actuating mechanisms, yet is as resistant to damage as any comparable
sprinkler. This bulb makes the Microfast® several times more sensitive than standard
sprinklers. Microfast® standard spray sprinklers are available in upright, pendent,
sidewall models, and extended coverage Microfast® sprinklers are available in pendent and
sidewall models
|
| Micromatic®
The Micromatic® sprinkler was
designed with engineers, architects, owners, and installing contractors in mind. One of
the smallest standard sprinklers made, the Micromatic® provides an extremely lean,
attractive appearance. It is available in chrome, natural or bright brass, black, white,
or navajo, and wax coated for corrosion resistance. It comes in upright, pendent,
conventional, and sidewall styles in a variety of orifice sizes. The Micromatic® is typically supplied with its time-proven glass
bulb operating mechanism. When a solder link sprinkler is preferred, the Micromatic® is
also available in chrome or natural brass finishes, upright, pendent, and sidewall styles,
and a variety of orifice sizes.
The Micromatic®'s color-matched escutcheons include
standard models and the adjustable recessed model, which allows sprinklers to be fitted
prior to ceiling installation, saving time and money.
White/White and Black/Black Sprinkler. Equipment
standards prohibit the field painting of sprinklers. However, by employing special
coatings, Viking has developed white and navajo (polyester coated) and black (polyester or
Teflon® coated) Micromatic® sprinklers, which can be combined with matching standard or
recessed escutcheons.
Corrosion Resistant Sprinklers. Stainless Steel is
available in upright or pendent models. Teflon® or polyester coatings are available in
upright, pendent, conventional, horizontal and vertical sidewall. Also, wax-coated is
available for severe corrosive environments.

| Mirage® Concealed Sprinklers
|
| The Mirage® has the
smallest cover plate and the lowest profile of any concealed sprinkler
available
|
|
In the past, it has been difficult to find a fire sprinkler
that can meet the most demanding aesthetic requirements of discriminating architects and
engineerswhile still providing the fire sprinkler contractor the ultimate in
installation flexibility. A trade-off always had to be made between a non-intrusive
installation and a cost-effective installation.
Now, for the first time, there is a product that
architects, engineers, and fire sprinkler contractors can use with confidence: the
Mirage® Concealed Sprinkler from The Viking Corporation.
Mirage®It's the first concealed sprinkler that's as
easy on your eyes as it is to install.
Concealed sprinklers are typically specified to provide an
almost invisible appearance to the sprinkler installation: this is where the Mirage® is
true to its name. The Mirage® has the smallest cover plate (2-3/4") and the lowest
profile (less than 5/32") of any concealed sprinkler available. These features,
coupled with Mirage®'s unique push-on/thread-off cover plate design, make the Mirage®
virtually undetectable in a finished ceiling.
|
| Mirage®
provides a full 1/2" of vertical adjustability, and its
unique positive latch design ensures a secure fit.
|
|
|
The
push-on/thread-off cover plate design also incorporates a positive
latch feature that ensures a secure fit and the confidence that the
cover plate will stay in place. No costly call-backs.
In
addition, the push-on feature allows a flush fit in spite of the
many variables involved in sprinkler installation. This eliminates
the unsightly gaps between the ceiling and the cover plate found in
most ordinary concealed sprinklers. The thread-off feature enables
easy removal of the cover plate without damaging the sprinkler or
the ceiling.
No
other concealed sprinkler allows more vertical adjustability than
the Mirage®—a full 1/2". This feature helps to minimize the
number of drops that need recutting and results in a clean,
professional installation. The Mirage® also eliminates guesswork
for ceiling installers. A standard two-inch hole saw provides the
specified ceiling hole size.
In
addition, the Mirage® features a durable, protective cap that not
only protects during shipping and installation, but also provides a
convenient way to mark ceiling tiles for the center of the hole saw.
And, to protect the assembly during installation, drop pins are
fully retracted and enclosed.
For
added convenience, Mirage® cover plates are packed separately,
resulting in lower inventory costs and less chance of loss or damage
at the job site.
In
order to meet the demanding needs of a variety of applications, the
Mirage® is available in both standard and quick response versions.
And, to make Mirage® sprinklers even more appealing, they're
available in nine standard finishes and over 500 custom colors, so
there's one to go with any decor. Their durable baked enamel finish
means they'll keep their good looks, year after year. All at a price
that looks good, too.

For safety and security, Viking offers the VK410 and VK412 (Model HQR-2)
Institutional Style Quick Response Flush Pendent and Sidewall Sprinklers. They are for use
with concealed piping in mental health occupancies, correctional facilities, or anywhere
occupants may be likely to tamper with fire sprinklers. These small, flush, solder-link
and lever spray sprinklers consist of the sprinkler body, a 3-1/4" diameter thread-on
escutcheon plate, and a lockring for a permanent, tamper-resistant bond with the
escutcheon. The tamper-resistant design includes a retaining flange that secures piping to
prevent sprinkler movement away from ceilings or walls. The fusible element assembly
features a low break-a-way weight. These sprinklers have a 5.6 U.S. K-factor and are UL
and C-UL Listed and accepted for use by New York City Department of Buildings as Quick
Response Flush Sprinklers. Both the pendent and sidewall styles provide standard coverage
per NFPA 13 (225 sq. ft.), while the pendent style is also listed for extended coverage
areas up to 16 ft. x 16 ft. spacing.
|
|
Since the concept of sprinklers designed
specifically for residential occupancies was first introduced in the mid 1970s, Viking has
been at the heart of development of technology to meet this challenge. The result is a
selection of residential sprinklers that combine attractive appearance with the
distribution and response characteristics necessary to provide the desired life-safety
benefits.
Viking residential sprinklers are available in a variety of
styles including the Microfast®, and the Horizon Flush Residential VK420 (Model
H-3) Sprinkler.
The Microfast® Residential Sprinkler comes in either
pendent or horizontal sidewall styles and can be provided in brass, bright brass, polished
chrome, white, or navajo finishes. When combined with Viking's Model F-1 Adjustable
Escutcheon, it provides a low-profile, decorative installation. The Microfast®
Residential Horizontal Sidewall Sprinkler is extremely versatile and can be installed as
much as twelve inches below the ceiling and cover areas as large as 18 feet by 18 feet,
when the appropriate water supply is provided.
|
|
The Microfast® Residential Pendent VK430 (Model M-4)
Sprinkler provides some of the best flow characteristics in the industry, along with the
extended coverage and the enhanced aesthetics of the traditional Viking Model E-1 Recessed
Escutcheon.
|
|
The revolutionary Microfast® VK440 (Model M-4) with a K
factor of 4.2, and the VK442 (Model M-5) Residential Horizontal Sidewall Sprinkler with a

| Storage
Sprinklers
Sprinklers for High Piled Storage Occupancies
For traditional
sprinkler systems in occupancies with rack storage, Viking offers the full line of frame
style (Model M) sprinklers along with accessories like the watershield/sprinkler guard.
For those structures where a designer wishes to minimize or eliminate the use of
intermediate level sprinklers, Viking offers a number of choices.
Viking pioneered the development of sprinklers designed
specifically for storage occupancies decades ago with the introduction of the High
Challenge® Sprinkler. Viking's ELO Standard Response Upright VK530 (Model M) Sprinkler
and ELO Quick Response Upright VK531 (Model M) have been specifically tested and listed
(Standard Response VK530 by UL, cUL and FM; Quick Response VK531 by UL) for use in
high-piled storage occupancies. The large K-Factor of these sprinklers allows appropriate
densities to be delivered at lower starting pressures.
Viking ESFR Sprinklers are available for use in the
protection of ordinary storage occupancies. However, they are designed primarily for
severe-challenge conditions where it is necessary to penetrate the fire plume and wet the
burning fuel surface directly, while cooling the atmosphere early in the development of
high-challenge fires. Viking ESFR Sprinklers feature a fast-response fusible link and a
special deflector to create large, high-momentum water droplets to suppress fire quickly,
helping to minimize fire and water damage. The VK520 (Model A-4) ESFR Upright Sprinkler
has a U.S. K-Factor of 14.0, and is FM Approved for protection of certain types of storage
up to 30 feet in buildings with ceilings up to 35 feet. These sprinklers can be installed
on top of piping up to three inches in diameter without a sprig and may be installed above
certain types of obstructed construction. The VK500 (Model S-1) ESFR Pendent Sprinkler has
a U.S. K-Factor of 14.0, and is FM Approved for specific types of storage up to 40 feet
high with ceilings up to 45 feet high.
