Engineered Sprinkler Pipe
Offerings
-
The original high-strength steel
thin wall pipe. Although unscheduled, Super Flo/Dyna-Flow has
been characterized as a Sch-7 or Sch-8 in wall thickness
manufactured to ASTM A-795 in Sizes 1" – 6". The
clean, moisture resistant coating is conducive to welding.
-
Use Benefit:
Popular as a Sch-10 alternative when roll grooved or welded. It
can be used as a Sch-10 alternative for branch line use when
used with plain-end fittings. Standard hanger spacing is used.
Due to high strength steel, minimum warping occurs when welded.
Larger inside diameter offers better hydraulics. Lighter in
weight, easier to handle, more economical than Sch-10 pipe.
-
Approvals: UL/ULC
listed for wet, dry pre-action and deluge systems, and is FM
approved for wet systems. Most major brands of roll grooved and
plain-end fittings and mechanical joints have been listed or
classified to be used with Super Flo/Dyna-Flow. Others are
currently being tested for approval. Related working pressure:
300 psi all sizes.

-
Use Benefit:
Has the same CRR of 1.00 as per UL listings, as threaded Sch-40
pipe. (The CRR is a life expectancy factor based on the thinnest
point of steel at the threaded joint.) Dyna-Thread / Super 40
also has superior hydraulic characteristics compared to Sch-40
for increased system efficiency. It is the first threadable
Sch-40 alternative that does not require threads to be checked
with a ring gauge.
-
Approvals:
UL/ULC listed for wet, dry deluge and pre-action systems, and FM
approved for wet systems. For use with threaded, welded,
plain-ended mechanical couplings. (Currently not approved for
cut grooving.) All sizes approved for 300 psi working pressure
fittings.
Alternative to Sch-40 pipe for
branch line use, generically known as "lightwall threadable
pipe." Manufactured to ASTM A-135 Sizes 1" – 2"
with clean black, moisture resistant coating.
-
Approvals:
UL/ULC listed for wet, dry deluge and pre-action systems, and FM
approved for wet systems. Listed for use with all threaded
fittings, and most roll-grooved, plain-end fittings and
mechanical couplings up to 300 psi. The industry recommends that
all threads be checked to assure conformance with ANSI B 1.20.1.
Maximum hanger spacing is 12’0".
Exterior Galvanized, Threadable
Lightwall. Alternative to Sch-40 pipe for branch line use,
generally known as "lightwall-threadable pipe."
Manufactured to ASTM-A-135 in sizes 1" – 3" with
clean, exterior galvanized finish.
-
Use Benefit: The
most economical form of threadable sprinkler pipe. Has a larger
inside diameter and less weight to allow easier installation and
potential down-sizing of the pipe. Excellent for outdoor use or
in applications where exterior corrosion is a concern. In
addition, XL can be welded on when environment is properly
ventilated.
