FM-200 Fire Extinguishing Agent (HFC-227ea)

FM-200 ® Fire Extinguishing Agent is a hydrofluorocarbon with the ASHRAE designation of HFC-227ea and is manufactured by DuPont. It was also marketed by DuPont as FE-227™. Chemically it is heptafluoropropane, CF 3 -CHF-CF 3 . It does not contain bromine, like Halon 1301 (CF 3 Br) , which is the component identified as contributing to the depletion of the earth’s ozone layer. With zero ozone depletion potential (ODP), FM-200 ® is environmentally preferred.

FM-200 ® is an acceptable Halon 1301 alternative. FM-200 ®  was one of the first Halon 1301 alternatives on the market. It is accepted worldwide and has a history of protecting some of the world's most critical and irreplaceable assets.
