The dry chemical fire extinguisher is the most widely used of all types of extinguishers. There are three basic types of dry chemical extinguishers, each of which has advantages and disadvantages based on the hazard.

BFPE Offers Dry Chemical Fire extinguishers by:

1) Regular dry chemical fire extinguishers use sodium bicarbonate as the extinguishing agent. The regular dry chemical fire extinguisher is effective on Class B & C fires. Sodium bicarbonate is considered to be the least corrosive fire extinguishing agent

2) ABC (or multi-purpose) fire extinguishers use ammonium phosphate as the extinguishing agent. The ABC fire extinguisher is effective on Class A, B, or C fires. The ammonium phosphate based fire extinguisher is the only agent suitable for Class A fire and thus this type of extinguisher is the most versatile choice available.

3) Purple K or potassium bicarbonate fire extinguishers are sometimes selected in lieu of regular dry chemical (sodium bicarbonate) extinguishers due to their greater fire extinguishing capabilities. There are some studies that indicate that potassium bicarbonate based fire extinguishers may be more corrosive than regular sodium bicarbonate fire extinguishers. Purple K extinguishers are effective on Class B & C fires.

ABC Dry Chemical
Brass Chrome Plated Valve
Stored Pressure Fire Extinguishers

These extinguishers have proven their dependability in heavy industrial usage and repeated recharging with no essential changes for over 27 years. Coupled with rugged dependable steel cylinders and stored pressure (gauge type) design, there isn't a finer fire extinguisher choice available anywhere. ABC or Multipurpose extinguishers contain a specially fluidized and siliconized mono ammonium phosphate chemical manufactured by Amerex. It chemically insulated Class A fires by melting at approximately 350ºF and coats the surface to which it is applied. It smothers and breaks the chain reaction of Class B fires and will not conduct electricity back to the operator. Available in a variety of sizes and wheeled fire extinguishers.

Also available in Aluminum

Stored Pressure Dry Chemical

Regular extinguishers contain a siliconized sodium bicarbonate based dry chemical with free flowing and non-caking additives. Economical Class B&C protection with lower initial cost recharging. This chemical smothers fires in flammable liquids and pressurized gases and is electrically non-conductive. Available in a variety of sizes and wheeled fire extinguishers.

Class D -  Dry Powder

Our class D dry powder extinguisher is suitable for use on metal fires.  It incorporates a soft flow extension applicator that ensures the operator's hands are kept away from the extreme heat and prevents inhalation of the toxic fumes caused by the burning metal.

Model WB570 has been tested and approved for fires involving magnesium, sodium (spills and in depth), potassium and sodium potassium alloys.

Features

• Unique soft flow extension applicator with built in long range nozzle
• Applicator can be quickly detached to provide a straight stream of powder where greater range, a narrow discharge pattern or lobbing effect is required.
Heavy duty steel cylinder.
• Corrosion resistant paint finish.
• FM approved.

• Operating temperature -40°F to +120°F

Suitable for use on the following type of fire:

Class "D" flammable metals.
