    Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) Clean Agent


    A hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) Clean Agent portable fire extinguisher is effective on Class A, B and C fires. Clean Agent portable fire extinguishers utilizing hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) as the fire extinguishing agent are:

    CleanGuard ® Fire Extinguishers manufactured by Ansul.

    CleanGuard® Fire Extinguishers contain FE-36™ clean agent fire extinguishing agent, which is a hydrofluorocarbon with the ASHRAE designation of HFC-236fa and is manufactured by DuPont. Chemically it is hexafluoropropane, CF 3 -CH 2 -CF 3 . It does not contain bromine, like Halon 1211 (CF 2 ClBr), which is the component identified as contributing to the depletion of the earth's ozone layer. With zero ozone depletion potential (ODP), FE-36™ is environmentally preferred and is an acceptable Halon 1211 alternative.
