Automatic Fire Alarm
Association (AFAA)

In most buildings the greatest risk of loss occurs when the facility is unoccupied. If there is a fire alarm, or a security alarm, and there is nobody on scene to respond to the problem, big problems can result. The fire spreads and does irretrievable damage; intruders steal thousands of dollars worth of property, or commit vandalism in the process. This is where UL alarm monitoring provides the extra measure of security to protect your assets.

How UL Alarm Monitoring Works with Central Stations

Security systems and fire alarm systems are usually connected to a digital telephone dialer. When an alarm occurs, the alarm system signals the digital telephone dialer to dial a pre-selected telephone number and transmit a code identifying the property and the nature of the alarm. The dialer calls an Underwriter's Laboratories listed central station monitoring facility. Sometimes this is referred to as a UL listed central station. A central station is 'central' because many different locations may report to a central point. The whole process is often called UL alarm monitoring because the central station is listed by Underwriter's Laboratories as an installation complying with a set of standards for safety and security.

At BFPE we can do your UL alarm monitoring for fire alarms and security systems. Our UL listed central station will stand on call to report any alarm on your premises whenever an alarm signal is transmitted to our central station. We can perform annual testing and maintenance on your security alarms and fire alarm systems. If you need new systems our engineering group stands ready to design a system to suit your requirements.
