Backflow Preventers, also known as backflow prevention devices, are installed on Water Mist Systems and Sprinkler Systems to prevent water from the system from entering and possibly contaminating the public water supply. According to NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, all backflow preventers installed in a Water Mist or Sprinkler System are required to be tested annually by a qualified contractor.
